As the organizer you choose a period and which sports count. Then you invite participants via a unique link or QR code โ they register and can optionally connect Strava. As organizer you do very little: mainly share the link and a bit of promotion. SportChallenge takes care of the rest.
Teams (optional) โ Participants can join a team or create one. You can still change this later as the administrator.
Weekly email โ Every Monday everyone gets a summary of the past week. That keeps the challenge alive and encourages people to push a bit more. Participants often motivate each other too. Winโwin.
Strava โ Like Strava, SportChallenge tracks (sport) activities. The difference: with SportChallenge you earn points per sport, can compare different sports fairly, and work with teams. And we connect to Strava, so your Strava activities are imported automatically.
Ommetje (popular during Covid) โ Ommetje focused mainly on walking. SportChallenge supports walking and all other sports, plus teams and a clear points system. Ideal for a broad, mixed group.
You decide. Walking, running, cycling, fitness, swimming, rowing โ or even archery. Anything goes, if you want it. The administrator sets which sports count and how points are calculated: by time, distance, or per activity.
That way the challenge fits your group.
In two ways.
Via Strava (recommended) โ Connect your Strava account once to SportChallenge. After that, activities like cycling, running, walking, etc. are imported automatically. No manual entry.
Manually โ For sports you don't track with Strava (e.g. fitness, swimming), enter them in the web app. Log in, add your activity, done.
You can use SportChallenge purely individually: everyone sees their own kilometres or points. But with teams it often gets more fun.
Points from all team members are added together. Teams compete, so you get healthy rivalry and extra encouragement to go that bit further. For many, that works better than scoring only for themselves.
There's no maximum. In practice, teams of 3โ6 work best, and with at least 2 teams the competition gets more interesting. Whether you have 6 or 600 participants, SportChallenge scales with you.
SportChallenge is a web app that runs in your browser โ on your phone and on your computer. No separate app in the App Store.
On your phone you can add an icon to your home screen for quick access. iPhone: open SportChallenge in Safari, tap Share โ "Add to Home Screen". Android: in Chrome, tap the menu (โฎ) โ "Add to Home screen" or "Install app".
Right now that's only possible manually: participants would have to enter their steps each day. Phones and watches usually store that data only locally or in their own app; because SportChallenge is a web app, we can't easily pull it in yet.
We're looking into supporting steps in the future (e.g. via an app or Google Health). Until then: walking counts if you log it as an activity or sync it via Strava.
Great that you want to organize your own SportChallenge.
Send an email to info@sportchallenge.online and we'll set up an account for you. You'll be the administrator and can configure the challenge: choose the period, which sports count, and the scoring. Then invite participants via a unique link (or QR code) to register.
That's all there is to it.
Participants sign up via a weblink with a security code โ share it by email, messaging app, or QR code. They click the link, register, and then choose an existing team or create a new one.
You only need to share the link; participants do the rest.
Yes. You choose the period, the sports, and how points are calculated. No fixed package: we're happy to help tailor the challenge to your group. Just ask for advice when setting things up.
SportChallenge connects to Strava. Many sports watches (Garmin, Polar, Apple Watch, etc.) and apps like Runkeeper and Nike Run Club can send data to Strava. Connect Strava once to SportChallenge and your activities come in automatically โ including from your watch.
Yes. Someone can join several SportChallenges at once โ for example one at work and one with a sports club. Each challenge has its own participants and scoring.
The same person can also take part in different organizations. Joining multiple teams within one SportChallenge is technically possible, though less common in practice.
Current pricing is on the Pricing page. You'll receive an invoice in advance based on the estimated number of participants and the period. No surprises afterwards.
Everything you need: your own challenge page, automatic Strava connection, weekly update emails, and personal support. No extra modules or hidden fees โ you can get started right away.
